When most progressives look at the way that republicans treat Obama and ask why all the vitriol? Why all the hyperbole? What is behind it? It can’t just be political ideology. There must be something more. Something much more personal. Is it motivated by racism? I say yes.
Much the same way that [some] Bernie supporters treat Hillary. Why all the vitriol? Why all the hyperbole? What is behind it? It can’t just be political ideology. There must be something more. Something much more personal. Is it motivated by misogyny? Is it because some of them are right wing trolls disguised as Bernie supporters? I say yes; to both.
And the reason why I have to bring up Obama in this instance is because so many Bernie supporters don’t even see Hillary as a human being, but a thing or symbol that engenders irrational hatred. So I must compare their behavior to what Obama has endured in order to humanize my point; much in the way a woman has to say to a man “imagine if it was your sister or wife” before he is motivated to emphasize with rape victims.
This hyperbole and vitriol must stop.
